Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
