President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum processing and cease providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on the program that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
