The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a four games to three triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd prefer in that moment besides Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
