Trio Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.
These three athletes have been celebrated for their remarkable achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.
The champion will be revealed live on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be televised from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.
These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Subsequently, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.
"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for this award again is a big honour," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and surged to prominence with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin finished second in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more young females to get into cricket."
